Literature students can make wonderful videos using MovieMaker or iMovie, the fast moviemaking app for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and MacBook computers. The main aim of this activity is to get students view videos as texts and have them critique them with their knowledge of different literary theories. By means of an example, watch the iMovie video entitled Embodiment, included in the "Pages and Files" folder.

Creating literary videos can be an enriching learning experience that, above all, allows for creativity and self-expression from the part of the students. Yet, it is important for teachers to establish and agree on clear appropriateness rules with the students when creating their literary videos for class.

If appropriateness is still an issue for some teachers who may be hesitant about whether to have students create image videos, a good alternative would be to have students produce text videos, based on a given passage, such as the following one: V for Vendetta

Are there any other types of literary videos that you know of and that can also prove useful in the classroom? If so, feel free to upload them on this site and start sharing resources!
